MONEY THE CAUSE OF OUR FREEDOM OR SLAVERY

It has been reported that Othman Ibn Afan a rich man and a companion of Allah’s messenger pray and peace upon him called one of his slaves.  He gave the slave money to take to Abi Zar El Gifari, a poorer man and a companion of Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him.  Othman told his slave that should Abi Zar take the money, he well set him free.

Pleased, the slave took the money to Abi Zar and told him that it is from Othman, may Allah be pleased with them both.  However, Abi Zar refused to take the money telling the slave that he has what he needs that day.  The slave told Abi Zar : “Would you take the money may Allah have mercy upon you, for in you taking the money is my freedom”.

Plead to Allah with your good deeds

For our good deeds may intercede for us in times of difficulties.

It has been reported in Bukhari that Allah’s messenger prayer said:  “While three men were walking, they were troubled by the rain.  They turned to a cave in a mountain.  A rock went down on the cave’s mouth and closed them in.  They said to each other to look for some of the righteous deeds you did for the sake of Allah, and plead to with them, so that Allah may relieve you of this difficulty.

One of them said: “I had 2 elderly parents, and I had young children.  I used to graze my cheap and when I go back to them, I start giving my parents milk to drink before my children.  One day I had to go far for feeding the cheap, therefore did not get back until it was dark to fin

While Omar Ibn El Khatab was on one of his night walks in Madina, he heard a woman telling her daughter to mix the milk with water before they sell it.  He daughter told her that Omar the Khalifah has forbidden mixing milk with water.  He mother said to her: “But where is Omar now?” (meaning he does not see them).  The Girl said : “If Omar does not see us, Omar’s Lord sees us”.

Omar did not interfere with them but went home and called all his sons.  He asked them if any one of them wishes to marry, and his son Asem told his that he wants to get married.  Omar told his son Asem that he found him a good wife, and Asem married her.

Testing Haroon Al-Rasheed’s sons

Late one night, while the Abasi Khalifa Haroon El-Rasheed was with his most beloved wife Zobida.  They were discussing who will be the most suitable heir to the Khalifa, her son Mohamed Al-Ameen, or another son of Haroon, Abd Allah Al-Mamoon who was his son from a Persian lady slave.  Zobida naturally felt that her son deserves to be heir more than Al-Allah.  Particularly that she was Haroon’s cousin, then the son Mohamed Al-Ameen was pure Arab, Abasi, and Qurashi from Mekka.  That is to say a more pure bread.

Haroon El-Rasheed thought of a way of letting his wife Zobida see for herself who was mos

The Muslims of Rwanda, What an Example

I met with my friend Belal Abd El-Kareem after returning from his trip to Rwanda to look at what is happening there.

Rwanda is an African country, poor, mostly Catholic with a minority of Muslims.  Its population at 1994 was about 8 million.  It’s population belong to two main tribes, the Hutu, and Totcie, who live together and intermarry etc.  In 1994 something sparked indiscriminate killing between these 2 tribes, which lead to massacres
