Anfal 38-40

Anfal 38-40

38- SHOULD THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE REFRAIN, THEY WILL BE FORGIVEN WHAT THEY DID IN THE PAST, BUT IF THEY RETURN TO DOING THE SAME, THEN THE EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE DID TO PEOPLE EARLIER HAS BEEN SHOWN.

39- FIGHT THEM SO THAT THERE WILL BE NO TEMPTATION AND PROSECUTION AND THE WHOLE RELIGION BECOMES ONLY THAT OF ALLAH’S, BUT IF THEY REFRAIN, THEN ALLAH SEES AND KNOWS ALL THEY DO.

40- BUT IF THEY TURN BACK, THEN KNOW THAT ALLAH IS YOUR GUARDIAN AND ALLY, AND HE IS THE BEST GUARDIAN AND ALLY.

Allah the Highest is telling us about three important principles in these three Ayahs:

1-    Repenting from sin leads to total forgiveness.  This includes all sins, which involves disbelieving in Allah the Highest.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Islam pardons whatever sins committed beforehand and repentance pardons what was committed beforehand”.  (Muslim: Eman & A:4;205)

As for those who continue sinning, the same sins after Islam, they will have to account for their sins before as well as after Islam.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Whoever does good deeds in Islam, he does not have to answer for what he did before Islam, and whoever does evil in Islam, he will have to account for what he did before and after Islam”.  (Bukhari & Muslim & Darmy & Ahmed)

Indeed, Allah the Highest promised the sinful and idle worshippers who become Muslims, and do good deed, to be rewards by rewarding them for the sins committed as if they were good deeds do.  Allah the Highest said: “EXCEPT THOSE WHO REPENT, BELIEVE AND DO GOOD DEEDS, ALLAH WILL TURN THEIR SINS INTO GOOD DEEDS, AND ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST MERCIFUL * FOR HE WHO REPENTS AND DOES GOOD DEEDS, HE HAS TRULY REPENTED TO ALLAH”.  (S: 25 A: 70-71)

2-    The Muslims Should be fighting the disbelievers who fight the Muslims and who try to tempt them from their faith, and corrupt their life and character.  Those who work on corrupting our Religion should be fought, but when they stop, we should stop fighting them.

This fighting does not always have to involve taking arms against them, for there are other and possibly better ways, depending on the circumstances.  Words, education and giving good example may succeed where armed struggle does not.

Allah the Highest will punish such people now and in the future just as He did in the past, for Allah is the same God and the policy is the same policy.

3-    Should people turn their back on us, and we do not have any help and support in this cause, and should we have no allies of people, Allah’s support is sufficient.  Allah the Highest is the best Guardian, Allay and Supporter for the believers, and if we have Him on our side, and struggle as we should, no one can defeat us.  Allah the Highest said: SHOULD ALLAH SUPPORTS YOU, NO ONE CAN DEFEAT YOU; BUT IF HE ABANDONS YOU, NO ONE CAN SUPPORT YOU AFTER HIM, AND IN ALLAH THE BELIEVERS SHOULD PUT THEIR TRUST”.  (S:3 A:160)

When we see that Allah the Highest is Not Supporting us against our enemies, we should look carefully at ourselves to see what is it we do that deviates us from Allah’s Path and deprive us from His help and support.
