Baqarah 10-15

10- THERE IS A DISEASE IN THEIR HEARTS AND ALLAH INCREASED THEIR DISEASE, AND A PAINFUL PENALTY IS THEIRS BECAUSE OF THEIR LYING. 

Allah the Highest, made an analogy of hypocrisy being like a disease in the heart.  This disease, they inflicted upon themselves.  Allah the Highest, created us good and pure.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “Allah commanded me to teach you of the things you do not know, which He taught me today: “All the goods I created my slaves is Halal, and I created all my slaves pure”.  (M: Jannah, 63 & a: 4; 162)

Allah the Highest, created every one with a good and pure nature, and accepts all that is good and pure.  Belief and submission to Allah the Highest, is part of this Nature; “AND SET YOUR FACES STEADILY TOWARDS THE PURE RELIGION, THE GOOD AND PURE NATURE WITH WHICH ALLAH CREATED MANKIND.  NO ALTERATION IN HIS CREATION.  THIS IS THE RIGHT RELIGION, BUT MANKIND DO KNOW”.  (S: 30 A: 30)

A sign of Allah’s anger is that Allah the Highest increases the disease in their hearts.  It increases the more they hear Allah’s Guidance and reject it.  Allah the Highest says: “AND WHEN A SORAH IS SENT DOWN, SOME OF THEM SAY: WHO OF YOU DID THIS SORAH INCREASE THEIR FAITH?  AS FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE, IT INCREASES THEIR FAITH AND THEY REJOICE.  AS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A DISEASE IN THEIR HEARTS, IT INCREASES THEIR WICKEDNESS AND THEY DIE DISBELIEVERS”.   (S: 9 A: 125)

Such is the result of Allah’s anger upon them because of their hypocrisy, and for trying to misguide the believers and keep people astray from the right path.  Allah the Highest leaves them blinded in their misguidance.  “LET THEM CONTINUE IN THEIR EXCESSIVE WICKEDNESS AND DISOBEDIENCE, BLINDED”.  (S: 2 A: 15)

11- AND WHEN IT IS SAID TO THEM: MAKE NO MISCHEIR ON EARTH.  THEY SAY: BUT WE ARE PUTTING THINGS RIGHT.

12- INDEED THEY ARE THE MISCHEIF MAKERS BUT THEY DO NOT REALIZE IT.

The believers will identify the hypocrites by their actions and deeds.  They do mischief and cause trouble, when they say that they are doing good.  Even when faced with the fact that they are causing mischief, they still argue that they are doing good.

It is more beneficial to us, for Allah the Highest to tell us what the Hypocrites do, rather than naming them at the time of Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, as there will always be hypocrites and the Muslims should be able to identify them by their deeds rather than names.

13- AND WHEN IT IS SAID TO THEM: BELIEVE AS PEOPLE BELIEVE.  THEY SAY: ARE WE TO BELIEVE AS THE FOOLS BELIEVE.  INDEED, THEY ARE THE FOOLS BUT THEY KNOW IT NOT.

Another mark of the Hypocrites is arrogance.  They consider it foolish to believe and to submit to Allah’s will.  Their arrogance is not just refusing to believe like others did, but their unwillingness to submit to Allah’s will.  This is because faith never entered their hearts; otherwise they would have found great honour in submitting to their Creator who said:  “THE MOST NOBEL OF YOU IN THE SIGHT OF ALLAH IS THE MOST PIOUS”. (S: 49 A: 13)

The Hypocrites, consider the submitters to the Creator feeble minded, but Allah the Highest, tells them that they are the feeble minded.  Feeble minded for not seeing the utmost strength in total Submission to the Creator of the Heavens and Earth.  

14- AND WHEN THEY MEET WITH THE BELIEVERS THEY SAY: WE BELIEVE.  BUT WHEN THEY ARE WITH THEIR DEVILS THEY SAY: WE ARE WITH YOU WE ARE ONLY JESTING.

15- ALLAH MOCKS THEM, AND GIVES THEM LEEWAY IN THEIR WICKEDNESS TO KEEP WANDERING BLINDLY IN THEIR INSOLENCE.

They pretend to the believers, that they have believed, but they admit to their disbelief to the devils that are their friends and allies.  We know the devils like Satan to be of the Jinn, but there are Human Devils too.  Allah the Highest said:”THUS WE APPOINTED FOR EVERY PROPHET ENEMIES OF THE DEVILS OF HUMANKIND AND JINN”.   (S: 6 A: 112)

Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon, him said to his companion Abu Zar: “Abu Zar, ask Allah’s protection from the devils of human and jinn”.  Abu Zar asked: “Are there devils of humans?”  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “Yes”.  (A: 5; 178 & N: Istaaza; 48, 61)

All devils, are enemies to the believers, for they misguide us and we should always remember that “FOR HE WHO FOLLOWS THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE DEVIL, THE DEVIL COMMANDS YOU TO DO WHAT IS SHAMEFUL AND FORBIDDEN”  (S:24  A:21)

“BUT THE DEVIL IS YOUR ENEMY, SO TAKE HIM FOR AN ENEMY”.  (S: 35 A: 6)

The devils, inspire the hypocrites to argue against the believers, for they are allies “THE DEVILS INPSIRE THEIR ALLIES TO ARGUE WITH YOU”.  (S: 6 A: 121)

Allah’s punishment of the Hypocrites is in this life and in the Hereafter and it is by the following means:

1-    Allah the Highest gives them leeway, allowing them to continue in their misguidance, this is because of His anger.  This makes their sins and state worse on Judgement Day.  “ SO LEAVE ME WITH THOSE WHO DENOUNCE THESE WORDS, WE WILL LEAD THEM FROM WHERE THEY DO NOT KNOW  *  AND GIVE THEM LEEWAY, BUT MY PLAN IS FIRM”  (S:68  A:44-45)

2-    Allah the Highest mocks the Hypocrites and makes them to be found out by the believers and mocked.  They are also mocked where it matters most, in the Hereafter.  “THEN THERE WILL BECOME MANIFEST TO THEM ALL THE EVIL OF THEIR DEEDS AND THEY WILL BE SURROUNDED BY WHAT THEY MOCKED * AND IT WILL BE SAID TO THEM: TODAY WE FORGET YOU AS YOU FORGOT THE MEETING OF THIS DAY, THE FIRE IS YOUR ABODE AND YOU HAVE NO SUPPORTERS * THIS IS BECAUSE THEY TOOK ALLAH’S AIAHS IN JEST, AND WERE DECEIVED BY THE LOWER LIFE.  TODAY THEY CAN NOT COME OUT OF THE FIRE AND CAN NOT MAKE AMENDS”  (S:45  A:33-35)

Such is the state of the Hypocrites, in this life and in the Hereafter.
